PROJECT SPOTLIGHT: Lumbar Motion Monitor

Challenge:	Back injuries cost businesses tens of billions of dollars annually in lost productivity and medical expenditures, not to mention the sometimes debilitating pain endured by the injured employees.
Solution:	We are working with Dr. William S. Marras, Director of The Ohio State University Biodynamics Laboratory, on a portable Lumbar Motion Monitor that is used to predict the likelihood of back injuries resulting from work activities in factories, warehouses, and other workplaces. This information can be used to redesign workplaces and activities to minimize the likelihood of back injuries. Result: Safer workplaces and lower costs.
